This Privacy Policy explains how BrowsePad ("BrowsePad," "the app," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the BrowsePad web browser application for Android TV and related Android devices.
Short version:
- BrowsePad is a browser, so websites you visit may collect information about you directly.
- BrowsePad may store browsing data locally on your device to provide browser features.
- BrowsePad Connect works over your local network between your phone and TV device and may transmit control actions and text input locally for remote-control features.
- BrowsePad uses Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and store billing libraries such as Google Play Billing, which may process limited technical, usage, or purchase-related data under their own policies.
- If you buy or manage a subscription, the relevant app store or billing provider may process purchase and account-related information under its own policies.
- The current version does not collect or store your browsing history, page content, passwords, or form entries on our own servers.
- You can control much of your data by clearing browsing data, managing permissions, and uninstalling the app.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the BrowsePad Android application. It does not govern the privacy practices of third-party websites, services, streaming providers, search engines, advertisers, or app stores that you may access through BrowsePad.
2. Information Processed On Your Device
To provide normal browser functionality, BrowsePad may process and store information locally on your device, including:
- browsing history;
- bookmarks and favorites;
- open tabs and session-restore data;
- cookies, cache, and other website storage created by sites you visit;
- download records and files saved by you to your device;
- site permissions and browser settings such as desktop mode or search preferences; and
- local network or pairing data needed for remote-control style features such as BrowsePad Connect, including the local IP information needed to connect devices on the same Wi-Fi network, if you choose to use them.
This data is generally used to operate the browser and improve the user experience on your device, not to build a server-side profile about you.
3. BrowsePad Connect And Local-Network Remote Features
BrowsePad includes a local-network remote-control feature called BrowsePad Connect. If you use it, the TV app may generate a QR code or local controller URL so that a phone or other device on the same network can connect to the TV browser.
When connected, the phone controller may send cursor movement, taps, scrolling, zoom gestures, text input, Enter/submit actions, and similar remote-control events to the TV app over your local network, including over a local WebSocket connection. The feature may also keep limited local connection state, such as connection status, recent disconnect information, and device-side diagnostics for connection events or failures.
BrowsePad Connect is designed as a local-network remote-control feature. It is not a cloud remote-control service and does not require an internet relay operated by us.
The phone controller does not create an account profile or store browsing, pairing, or text-entry history. It stores only a local preference for pointer speed in the phone browser's local storage. Text typed through the phone controller is sent locally to the active input on the TV browser and is not intentionally logged or sent to our servers.
4. Information We May Receive Automatically
Like most apps and websites, certain technical information may be generated when the app interacts with networks or third-party services, such as IP address, device type, operating system version, app version, crash details, or basic request metadata. Whether that information is received by us depends on the specific services and features enabled in the version of BrowsePad you are using.
BrowsePad does not use a backend server operated by us for browsing history, accounts, BrowsePad Connect, subscription verification, or remote-control traffic. However, third-party SDKs and store providers used in the app may receive limited analytics, diagnostic, billing, or transaction-related data directly from the app or device.
5. Third-Party Services And SDKs Used By BrowsePad
BrowsePad may use third-party libraries and services such as:
- Firebase Analytics;
- Firebase Crashlytics;
- Google Play Billing Library; and
- store-equivalent billing or purchase frameworks for Amazon Appstore or Huawei AppGallery builds, where applicable.
These providers may process limited information such as app diagnostics, crash reports, basic analytics or usage information, purchase state, transaction identifiers, entitlement information, device or app metadata, and account-linked store information as needed to provide their services. BrowsePad does not intentionally send page-level browsing events or page-content data to Firebase. Their handling of data is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
6. Information Not Collected On Our Servers
In the current version, BrowsePad does not collect or store the following on servers operated by us:
- the contents of webpages you browse;
- your full browsing history;
- your bookmarks, saved tabs, or downloaded files;
- passwords, payment card numbers, or form entries; or
- precise device location.
BrowsePad also does not currently use microphone, camera, or location access as an app feature.
7. Websites, Search Providers, And Embedded Services
When you visit websites through BrowsePad, those websites and services may collect information directly from your device or browser. This can include your IP address, user agent, cookies, approximate location, pages viewed, search queries, media activity, and information you choose to submit to them.
Those third parties act under their own terms and privacy policies. BrowsePad cannot control how third-party websites or services collect, use, or share your information.
8. Downloads And Files
If you choose to download files through BrowsePad, the app may pass the download request to Android system components such as DownloadManager and may save files to your device’s Downloads folder, depending on the Android version, device capabilities, and permissions available.
Downloaded files are controlled by you and may remain on your device until you delete them. BrowsePad does not currently keep a dedicated in-app downloads history. Third-party websites or file hosts may also receive information related to your download requests.
9. Permissions And Sensitive Features
BrowsePad uses storage access when you choose to download files. BrowsePad does not currently provide app features that request microphone, camera, or location access.
You can manage Android app permissions through your device settings. If a future version adds access to sensitive device features such as microphone, camera, location, Bluetooth, nearby devices, or similar permissions, the app should provide any required in-app disclosure and permission prompt before that access is used.
10. Subscriptions, Purchases, And Store Providers
BrowsePad may offer subscription-related flows through app store providers such as Google Play, Amazon Appstore, or Huawei AppGallery. If you start, renew, restore, verify, or manage a subscription, the relevant store or billing provider may process information such as your store account details, subscription status, transaction identifiers, country or region, billing metadata, and related purchase information under that provider’s own terms and privacy policies.
BrowsePad may locally cache subscription status or recent verification results on your device to support app access and short offline grace-period behavior. Subscription verification is handled on-device through the relevant store provider rather than through our own backend. We are not the merchant of record for app-store purchases handled by those providers.
11. How We Use Information
We may use information processed through BrowsePad to:
- provide browser functionality;
- remember your settings and session state on your device;
- support features such as tabs, bookmarks, history, downloads, and remote control;
- provide local-network pairing, connection, and remote text-input features;
- support subscriptions, entitlement checks, and store-management entry points;
- receive basic analytics, crash diagnostics, and technical troubleshooting information through supported third-party SDKs;
- maintain security, prevent misuse, and diagnose technical issues; and
- comply with legal obligations.
12. Sharing Of Information
We do not operate a backend database for user accounts, browsing history, bookmarks, downloaded files, or BrowsePad Connect traffic. Information may be made available to third parties only in limited situations, such as:
- with third-party SDK or infrastructure providers such as Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to support analytics, diagnostics, and reliability;
- with store or billing providers when necessary to support purchases, subscription verification, renewals, restores, or account-linked entitlement handling;
- with third-party websites, search providers, streaming services, file hosts, or web services that you choose to access through the browser;
- when required by law, legal process, or a valid government request;
- when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, users, or the public; or
- as part of a merger, sale, financing, or transfer of some or all of the app or related assets, if such a transaction ever occurs.
We do not sell personal and sensitive user data.
13. Data Retention And Deletion
Data stored locally in BrowsePad generally remains on your device until you delete it, clear browsing data, remove downloads, clear app storage, or uninstall the app.
BrowsePad does not create user accounts and we do not maintain a backend database from which we can retrieve or delete your browsing history, bookmarks, downloaded files, controller text input, or BrowsePad Connect sessions. To delete app data stored by BrowsePad, use the app's clear-data controls where available, delete downloaded files from your device, clear app storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app.
Firebase, Crashlytics, Google Play, Amazon Appstore, Huawei AppGallery, and other third-party providers may retain analytics, crash, billing, or transaction data according to their own policies and controls. If you contact us by email for support or privacy questions, we may retain that email conversation as needed to respond, keep records, and comply with applicable obligations.
14. Your Choices
Depending on the version of BrowsePad and your device, you may be able to:
- clear browsing history, cookies, cache, and other site data;
- delete bookmarks, downloads, or saved sessions;
- disconnect phone-based remote sessions or avoid using BrowsePad Connect;
- manage Android app permissions;
- disable or avoid optional features you do not want to use; and
- uninstall the app at any time.
15. Children’s Privacy
BrowsePad is intended for a general audience and is not designed specifically for children. It is not marketed as a kids app, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our own backend service.
Because BrowsePad is a general web browser that can access third-party internet content, parents and guardians should supervise use by children. The app does not provide a dedicated child-safe browsing environment or age-verification flow.
16. Security
We use reasonable measures designed to help protect information under our control. However, no method of transmission, storage, or electronic security is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
BrowsePad is designed to block insecure SSL certificate flows instead of bypassing them, but website security and network conditions outside the app remain outside our control.
17. Privacy Requests And Legal Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws. Because BrowsePad does not create user accounts or maintain a backend database of app user data, many access, correction, or deletion requests can only be completed by you on your own device or through the relevant third-party provider. You may contact us with privacy questions, and we will review any request we can reasonably act on, such as questions about this policy or support emails you sent to us.
18. Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated version at this page and update the "Last updated" date above.
